Google Lens will be used in Google Assistant to recognize objects in the real world

The technology Google Lens, originally introduced in May, will be part of the set of properties Google Assistant and help users to obtain additional information about objects in the real world.


Based on its own artificial intelligence, Google Lens has a set of data that allows it to recognize a number of simple objects and provide additional help on them on the screen of your phone. Her database is regularly updated, and the more often users use it within the same Google assistant, the more things can be recognized.
At the first stage, Google representatives do not recommend to abuse the new opportunity, putting before the technology so far not feasible for it tasks, but to interact with simple objects: understandable interior items, text blocks from which you can extract phone numbers that will be immediately offered for recruitment on your smartphone, or addresses that will be immediately transferred to Google Maps. According to the developers, in this way, users can translate data from paper ads on the street in memory of their phones.

In addition, Google Lens can already recognize city sights, movie posters and names of famous books, giving users short information and related links for further acquaintance.

Well, of course, with the new function it will be more convenient to scan bar codes and QR codes instead of third-party programs.

This update will primarily be available for Pixel and Pixel 2 series smartphones and will be released first within the US, UK, Australia, Canada, India and Singapore in the coming weeks.

Will Google Assistant support this technology on other devices that work with the Android operating system, and as soon as the update becomes available to other countries, it is not yet known at the time of this writing.
