Consumers lose interest in tablets

The company International Data Corporation (IDC) reports that the world market for tablet computers remained “in the red” by the end of the third quarter of this year.

From July to September, around 40.0 million tablets were sold globally. This is 5.4% less than last year’s result in 42.3 million devices. The observed picture of analysts is associated with the high popularity of smartphones and phabets, as well as with the stabilization of the market of traditional personal computers.




In addition, consumers prefer not to rush to update the available on the hands of tablets.
Undisputed market leader remains Apple with 10.3 million sold for the quarter iPad. The company’s share in annual terms increased from 21.9% to 25.8%.

Second place is occupied by Samsung with 6 million devices sold. The Korean company controls 15.0% of the market against 15.4% a year earlier. On the third line of the rating is Amazon with 4.4 million set tablets: the company’s share for the year rose from 7.5% to 10.9%.
Next go Huawei and Lenovo, shipped in three months, about 3.0 million tablets. At the same time, the share of the first of the two companies rose from 6.0% to 7.5%, and the second – from 6.5% to 7.4%.
All other suppliers together hold a third of the world market, which is equivalent to 13.3 million tablets in unit terms.
