Last week, we talked about smartwatches for Soundbrenner Core musicians, which, in addition to standard features, combine the functions of a metronome, magnetic tuner and decibel meter. Today’s article focuses on a unique 4K Hover 2 drone that is designed to take a selfie and is capable of high-quality video shooting in several modes.
About the project
ZeroZero Robotics, famous for its “flying selfie camera” Hover Camera Passport, this week unveiled its new drone called Hover 2.
ZeroZero Robotics decided to launch a collection of pre-orders for the new model through the Kickstarter crowdfunding platform, and at the moment the amount of investment is already seven times higher than planned, although 37 days are left before the end of the campaign.
Drone Hover 2 is a personal autonomous flying camera. It is equipped with a computer vision system that allows you to successfully avoid obstacles and shoot smooth video without user intervention.
Special optical radar rotates 360 degrees, providing depth perception in all directions.
The information is transmitted to the SLAM 3D mapping system and is combined with the VIO system (visual inertial odometry) and the ZeroZero Robotics path planning system. As a result, according to the company, the drone can navigate in new difficult conditions with a 360-degree escape from obstacles. To calculate using the flagship chipset from Qualcomm.
Hover 2 has a folding case and is equipped with a special protection that can be removed to work in the mode “BlastOff Mode”.
In this mode, the drone can be controlled using a special controller BlastOff at a distance of 5 km. A special aerodynamic protection is installed on the propellers, which increases the flight duration to 23 minutes. Thus, from an autonomous flying camera Hover 2 turns into a normal drone.
In addition to the BlastOff controller, the Hover 2 comes with another device, the Palm Pilot, which allows you to control its basic functions. Palm Pilot automatically connects with the drone and allows you to change various flight and shooting settings with one hand. The display on the remote shows a view from the front of the drone. As planned by the company, it is easier to control a drone on the go with such a remote than from a smartphone.
Hover 2 is equipped with a camera with 1 / 2.3-inch CMOS-matrix, which allows you to shoot 4K-video and make 12-megapixel photo.
The camera is installed on a stabilization gimbal. Sample video shot on Hover 2:
Until the end of the campaign on Kickstarter, the cost of the Hover 2 kit without a remote and a controller is $ 399, and if you have BlastOff and Palm Pilot, it starts at $ 799. Between these options are also present various intermediate versions of complete sets. The first buyers will receive their drones in March 2019.
