Last week we told you about a device called SQUEGG, which allows you to measure the grip strength of your hand and increase that power. Today we will introduce you to the robot Little Sofia, whose task is to teach children programming.
About the project
Robots have always been favorites of children, and if several years ago they were simple mechanical toys, now you can find robots on sale that can not only entertain, but also teach children something new.
Hanson Robotics has announced the raising of funds necessary for the production of the new children’s teaching robot Little Sofia, whose main task is to teach children the basics of programming and interacting with various types of equipment and technologies.
Recall that the company Hanson Robotics gained fame thanks to the production of the robot Sofia, which was released for the needs of business and entrepreneurship, and now decided to shift its attention to the development of children, releasing its mini-version.
The head of the Little Sofia robot, just like its older version, looks like a human one. On the back of the head of the robot there is a small window through which details and mechanisms can be viewed. In general, from a distance, the robot looks very much like a real
Little Sofia is able to move, dance, navigate, memorize faces, keep up a conversation and joke.
As we have already mentioned, the main task of the robot is to teach children robotics and programming. Owners of Little Sofia will be able to write programs for the robot in the languages Blockly and Python.
It is worth noting that the engineers of Hanson Robotics have carefully worked through the system of facial expressions and gestures of the Little Sofia robot, making them more alive and believable than those of most similar robots.
Until the end of the campaign on Kickstarter, the Little Sofia robot can be purchased for as low as $ 99.
